Format and selection
Conference bowl agreements
One postseason game.
- After CFP selection, the Alamo Bowl has the first selection from its Big 12 pool and from the former Pac-12 conference pool.
- The Big 12 pool consists of the 12 continuing Big 12 programs; the other pool comprises the former Pac-12 members. Conference realignment does not turn those pools into today’s conference standings.
These are documented selection procedures. They do not explain why a particular participant was chosen unless the source expressly records that decision.
History
The NCAA records trace this competition to the 1993 football season.
The records identify San Antonio as its present site. Individual editions retain documented name changes and results.
